Located at 211 Newark Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07302, The Sicilian Guy operates as an italian restaurant serving Jersey City in New Jersey. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as sandwich shop, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Italian restaurants, sub shops, calzone counters and Italian delis sit next to the pizzerias on this site because most of them bake pizza too, often from the same dough. Full-service Italian restaurants take reservations for dinner, add a tip line for table service (15-20% is customary) and usually run a cheaper lunch menu on weekdays. Sub and sandwich shops are counter-order and quick, with sizes by the inch or in half and whole lengths. Calzones and strombolis are priced like a medium pizza and are large enough to share. Italian delis and bakeries sell by weight and by the piece, and many close mid-afternoon.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–8 pm. It is closed on Sunday. My husband and I live nearby, so we’ve been buying meals from this store almost every day for the past six months. The food is made with top-quality olive oil, excellent cheese, and fresh ingredients. Everything is seasoned with just the right amount of spices and herbs. The food is never too salty, and every dish is exceptionally delicious, so we never get tired of eating it, even if we eat here almost every day. For a long time, we had avoided food from restaurants and takeout places because many of them use poor-quality oils and rely on excessive salt and sugar. I used to cook at home for our health, but now we can enjoy this store's reasonably priced food without worry. Our recent favorite is the Chicken Cutlet Sandwich, with fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, capers, and arugula, drizzled with high-quality balsamic vinegar. It tastes so fresh, with its bright flavors β€” the perfect sandwich for summer. The focaccia, olive bread, and the occasional porchetta pizza (their pizzas are phenomenal!) have amazing crumbs and crusts that have the natural umami and sweetness of the flour, which are tastier than any baked goods from other pizzerias or bakeries. The lasagna is light as

The Sicilian Guy is the real deal. I got the Chicken Parmigiano and it was an absolute standout. Fresh chicken cutlet, melted mozzarella, aged parmigiano reggiano, all piled onto fresh baked Brooklyn artisan bread. But what truly sets this place apart is the sauce. Riccardo DePaoli shared that the recipe came from his grandmother (see photo), passed down through generations, and you can taste exactly that. Simple, clean, deeply flavorful, made with tomatoes imported from Italy. Nothing artificial, nothing unnecessary. Just the kind of sauce that reminds you what Italian food is supposed to taste like. I also tried the meatballs and I'll just say it plainly: best meatballs in Jersey City. Tender, perfectly seasoned, and smothered in that incredible sauce. You can tell everything here is made with genuine care and pride. This isn't a chain, it's not trying to be trendy. It's a family tradition that landed on Newark Ave and we're all lucky for it. Do yourself a favor and go.

As someone who goes crazy for a great eggplant parm - this really hit the spot for me. Soft and almost buttery flavor - no bitterness to speak of. Absolutely delicious and a really friendly team! I also treated myself to an amazing chocolate chip cannoli for dessert. Will definitely be back again and again.

Run, don't walk, to this gem in Jersey City. I had a hero and cannoli for lunch. OMG, it was huge! Freshly made and big enough to share. The cannoli was packed with filling. You could choose from vanilla, chocolate or pistachio. The shell was perfectly made with e hint of cinnamon. I am looking forward to going back and trying something else. Come on JC, get out there and give this guy some love.

We made a trip during a long layover from the Newark airport. Food was amazing and the service was awesome. The owner was so friendly and you could tell how passionate he was about his food. We had the sausage/meatball platter, a prosciutto sandwich with fresh mozzarella, focaccia bread and some cannolis. Some of the best and most authentic Italian food I’ve ever had. Have thought about the food regularly since we went. Can’t recommend enough.
